The 7thAnnual Glazing Executives Forum (GEF) held at GlassBuild America 2012 was a
smashing success. The event featured a record crowd, news-making speakers, educational outreach, and quality networking.
GEF led off with a strong session titled “State of the Industry”, led by a distinguished panel featuring Oliver Stepe of YKK AP, Garret Henson of Viracon, and Scott Clymire of United Architectural Metals. Questions from the audience flooded moderator Rick Hamlin as the 80 minute session was lively from start to finish. Issues covered included warranty language, training, codes, off shore competition, and receivables among others.

The morning also featured tremendous presentations from Shawn Donovan about marketing to the architect and Paul Nutcher on green building. Both of their PowerPoint presentations can be found here.
Jeff Dietrich, the Chief Economist for the National Glass Association, is always the highlight of the day. The crowd listened intently as Dietrich gave a talk that featured an economic approach many hope will come to fruition. Click here to read the coverage by Glass Magazine of the economic report.
Breakout sessions filled the afternoon and a panel on Project Management helped top off this educational experience of the day.
The Glazing Executives Forum is slated to return for it’s 8th edition next September at GlassBuild in Atlanta. Call for presentations will be out soon and the event will be surely be a “can’t miss” for anyone involved in the glass and glazing industry.
